Matt Harley Goss

People have been a touch sceptical about my prediction that Goss will finish in the top 3 for stage 1 of the Tour de France.

If in doubt then remind yourself what his train can do by looking back at stage 2(called stage 3 on youtube) of the 2012 Giro. Most people remember it for the Mark Cavendish crash but look at the work Orcia do from 1.2km out.The lead-out is perfect and sets Goss up for a big power sprint. The finish is similar to tomorrow as it is a long, straight run.Cavendish did crash, but he wasn’t going to catch Goss,as he was in a poor position.

Greipel and Cavendish are obvious favourites for tomorrow but if you are looking for an outside bet, then Goss at 20/1 should be it.Remember,Goss finished in the top 3 in 5 out of 6 bunch sprints at the 2012 tour.He finished 4th in the other bunch sprint.
