The 2.1 race in France starts today with a 3.3km prologue.

These short prologues are always good for sprinters and that should be the same again here.

Stage 1 is a nice day for the sprinters. The stage is only 128.3km and this almost guarantees a sprint finish. We do have some big sprinters here with Bouhanni,Coquard and Meersman. This should be a stage for the two Frenchmen to battle for and I would favour Bouhanni.

Stage 2 sees the riders tackle the Col de Berthiand. It’s 6km at around 8%.From the crest of the climb there is only 20km till the end of the stage.I think that Gianni Meersman should be able to get over the climb and win the stage.

Stage 3 should be for the climbers. The Col de Menthieres is tough and then we have another climb before the end of the stage. This could see a small bunch sprint for the good climbers or a lone rider could claim the stage and maybe the overall victory.Good climbers riding are Kenny Elissonde,Thinaut Pinot,Pierre Rolland,Brice Feillu,Romain Bardet,Wout Poels,Johann Tschopp and John Darwin Atapuma.I fancy either Elissonde or Atapuma.

The final stage involves the iconic climb of the Col du Grand Colombier but the riders have nearly 60km to go from the top of the climb.

I think it’s about time that Kenny Elissonde won a big race and although he’s only 22 years old I hope it’s here, although if I was betting I’d go for Atapuma who has shown some great form in the Tour of Poland.
