We have 175km and everyone will be waiting for the sprint. There are a huge number of good sprinters here:-
Marcel Kittel – 4 wins at the tour
Andre Geipel – 1 win at the tour
Arnoud Demare – fresh from a win at the London Classic
Theo Bos – beat Kittel,Greipel and Cavendish at ZLM recently
Elia Viviani – 1 stage at the Dauphine and 2 stages at the recent Tour of Elk Grove
We also have Hutarovich,Nizzolo,Farrar,Swift,Kruopis and Petacchi.
Greipel and Kittel haven’t raced since the tour and for that reason I would avoid them.
Kittel and the whole Argos team were at John Degenkolb’s wedding at the weekend and that’s not the ideal prep for a bike race!
Quite often in stage races, the 1st stage can provide a little upset and I can smell one here.
Demare to win the stage – 1 point at 13/2
Bos to win the stage – 1 point at 13/2
I also had a little of Demare to win the GC – 0.5 points e/w at 400/1!
He recently won the hilly 4 days of Dunkirk and is looking to turn himself into a serious classics rider,so you never know! But it’s a very long shot!
