La Vuelta – Stage 20 Preview

After nearly 3 weeks of intense racing the end is almost in sight!

The mere mention of the Angliru strikes fear into the hearts of all riders!

It is known as the toughest climb in cycling and it will destroy the field.

A break will form with KOTM hopefuls Edet,Ratto and Txurruka. It’s expected that the GC boys will win the stage and take the 15 points on offer at the end.If that happens they cannot beat Edet and I seriously doubt they will take any points on the cat 1 climb.

Ratto is 8 points down and needs a massive day,and I can’t see it happening.I really hope Txurruka can take 9 points on Ratto and steal 3rd place.

A break has very little chance of success as the GC riders will want to win this amazing stage.

Horner is now in red and that does change things.I expect Astana to send at least 2 riders in the break to try and put pressure on the American. When Rodriguez and Valverde start to attack it will be his responsibility to bring it back.He seems to be untouchable just now,so anything but a win, will be a big surprise.

I have a little hope that Nibali lost the red jersey on purpose. It allows Astana more cards to play and hopefully Vincenzo can climb like he knows how,for the sake of cycling!

Will Carlos Betancur eventually remind us he is amazing?
