There are 12 warning signs in the final 5km and a roundabout with 400 metres to go,plus another 90 degree turn at the 1km to go mark.Add the stretch along the seafront and this looks like being another difficult finish for the sprint teams to control.
The strongest sprinter has looked like being Michael Matthews with Meersman and Farrar being very disappointing.Richeze of Lampre has been consistent with two 2nd places.
The Volta Catalunya finished here in 2011 and a certain Nico Roche finished 7th,any chance of him bettering this tomorrow?
If a rider goes off the front in the difficult finish look again for Gilbert,Cancellara,Stybar and Flecha.
The sprinters and their teams have been so inconsistent that betting on this stage probably isn’t wise.If you twisted my arm I’d say Richeze for a top 3 finish. However wants to win has to be in the top 5 when the peloton cross the final roundabout.Good positioning and a strong team are again preferable.
