Paris-Bourges 2013

It is the centenary of this wonderful race. The route returns to what it was 3 years ago.

Screen Shot 2013-10-08 at 06.27.02It’s 190.3km with 3 climbs but should end in a big sprint.

In 2012,the race was won by Vachon with Bouhanni 2nd and Degenkolb 3rd.The in-form German returns this year and has to be the massive favourite.

Bouhanni doesn’t return,as he’s away to Beijing.

Vachon does return with his Bretagne squad and Arnaud Demare is here with FDJ.

AG2R have Samuel Dumoulin,Saxo have Markov,Katusha have Belkov,Vacansoleil have Romain Feillu and Europcar have Coquard.

This should be a straight shoot-out between Degenkolb and Demare but these end of season races never really go to plan.

Also hoping to be in the mix are Van Staeyen(Topsport),Martinez(La Pomme Marseille),Hivert(Sojasun) and Haussler(IAM).

If we look to the race in Binche on Tuesday, for a form guide,we see that Leukemans was 2nd and Van Staeyen was 6th.

It’s a nice downhill sprint so the fastest men should win and I fancy Arnoud Demare to come good on French soil.In fact here is the top 10 of the GP d’Isbergues, raced on 22nd September:

1.Demare

2.Degenkolb

3.Drucker

4.Hushovd

5.Gilbert

6.Martinez

7.Samuel Dumoulin

8.Coquard

9.Romain Feillu

10.Julien Simon

I’m going for Demare,Degenkolb and looking for an upset with Martinez claiming 3rd.
