I described this in my overall preview as the “unknown outcome stage”. These are the stages I like the most, one where there are several possible outcomes. Basically, you can rule out a big sprint, but everything else is ruled in. The breakaway has a chance, albeit a small one, we could get a reduced sprint, a solo winner or a group of GC riders sprinting for the win. As someone who writes previews, these stages are a God send, it’s great to think through all the potential scenarios.
