Bétera > València 93km
The race ends with the same final stage we had last year. Super short and very explosive. Last year, Vlasov, Ciccone and Geoghegan Hart went clear halfway up the final climb, Soler and Bilbao were able to join them just at the crest, and at that point McNulty’s legs feel off. Also at the front was Battistella, he rode a clever race that day. Despite the break only having 2 minutes at the foot of the climb, the Italian managed to hold off the peloton and got over the top just as they caught him. On other day, he could have won the stage with a late attack. The eventually winner, Rui Costa, joined the front group on the descent, as they weren’t working well together. It’s a well-crafted stage, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens this year.
