2023 Vuelta España Stage 20 Preview

Manzanares El Real > Guadarrama 207km

The penultimate stage of the race is a beauty, it’s such a shame the GC is already all over. You’ll hear this day described as a nod to Liège-Bastogne-Liège, thanks to a day full of short climbs. There isn’t anything harder than a cat 3 but the riders still have to tackle 4416m of climbing (the most in the whole race), it’s a brutal day in the saddle.

Weather

Cloudy with a small chance of rain.

Key Points

This section of road is done twice, it contains three cat 3 climbs, 8.4km at 4.1%, 5km at 5.7% and 4.1km at 5.9%. Nothing too hard, but the accumulated climbing in this stage, and across the race, is going to hurt.

This is the final 48km of the day. Again, the climbs aren’t too hard, there’s just a lot of them.
