Durrës > Tirana 160km
It’s here, the first day of the Giro d’Italia. The race begins with 3 stages in Albania, a place where the road surface leaves a lot to be desired. I had thought the government would have used some of the Giro money to mend the roads, but I don’t think that’s happened, so expect lots of complaints from the riders. The opening stage is well designed, a classic battle between the different types of sprinters. Those who aren’t the best uphill are going to struggle, it’s going to be interesting to see who makes the finish and fights for the first pink jersey.
