Tour of Türkiye is a race I’ve watched for many years, not the biggest event in the world, but one that I really enjoy. Back in the dark old days, you would have seen riders doped up to their eyeballs dropping the world tour riders, shout out to Gabrovski and Sayar! Selfishly, my favourite moment was when Eddie Theuns won a stage back in 2017, and then gave me a shout out in his post-race interview. We had a chat the night before and came up with a plan to win the stage, it worked, and Eddie shared the story in the interview. Weirdly, I was watching the stage on my phone in Dobbies, just outside Newcastle Airport, as I was heading south on holiday. I didn’t get to see his interview, but my phone went crazy, and I had a feeling that he must have mentioned me, which was really nice of him. Enough of the old days, time to look at this year’s route.
